J E P   C A S T

JEP CAST (Japanese Entertainment/Johnny’s Entertainment Podcast) is a podcast where four girls hilariously discuss the ins and outs of Johnny’s Jimusho (also known by fans as Johnny’s Entertainment or JE for short) which is a Japanese talent agency of male pop stars. Each episode covers a week’s worth of news from both the debuted groups (SMAP, Arashi, Hey!Say!JUMP, etc.) and Johnny’s Juniors. We also discuss and expand on fan’s opinions on certain topics–like PVs or a specific male of the Jimusho. Come join us for the latest news from your favorite talent agency!

KAMIKA [ news host, audio editor, web maintainer, general jack of all trade ] is the driving force behind the podcast (even though Jennie’s the real reason that the podcast exists because Kamika’s just much too lazy to push herself to actually go through with half the ideas she thinks up. …This applies to so many other things.) But M-tendencies aside, Kamika’s a 24-year-old living in New York with her HUGE family. She’s absolutely horribly obsessed with the internet, so most of her time is spent refreshing LJ/Twitter, posting on either of the two while probably watching some kind of video at the same time. (Put simply, she has no life.) While she is a ridiculously huge Yamapi fan (it’s thanks to him that she entered fandom after all), she does enjoy listening and learning about the other JE groups, and eats up all their media with a spoon. She also vows that one day, she will marry Sakamoto. But she’s mostly joking. Mostly.

PEYTON [ main host, backup audio editor ] is really the Japan!a!phile of the hosts. She has a BA in Japanese Studies and is a graduate student in Media Studies. She’s moved around quite a bit for school (even lived in Tokyo for a year, right when KAT-TUN debuted!), but now resides in her homestate of California in the United States. She is pretty much first and foremost a KAT-TUN fan though she’s well-versed in almost all of Johnny’s and knows them like the back of her hand (when she’s not cheating or making mistakes). She has a very complicated relationship with Arashi that often shows up in the podcast as a love-hate relationship. XD Of course, since it was Japanese dramas that sucked her into the fandom oh so long ago, when she’s not fangirling Johnny’s boys, she’s sinking her teeth into every kind of drama out there. Just call her a media!whore, she doesn’t mind at all.

RHEY [ letter / question host ], no longer the youngest of the hosts at twenty-three, is a boring girl living in the exciting city of New York. Her likes include (and probably are limited to) long walks on the beach, candle-lit dinners, the Large Hadron Collider, and dead-fish!eyes.

MELISSA [ host / all-around chatterbox ] is the newest host to the team and hails from the province of Ontario, Canada. She is currently living away from her family as she finishes up her Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing. Sadly, this degree has no relation to Japan. However, her electives are (unsurprisingly) all for Japanese. Melissa went on exchange to Japan for a year in 2006 (the year of KAT-TUN’s debut but Melissa didn’t know Peyton at the time *tear* Good times coulda been had) and has been a Japanophile ever since (to her parents’ dismay). She was introduced to Johnny’s by her host sister who was a KAT-TUN fan and Kame was her first ichiban. Since then, she was Jun-baited and is now a fan of all things Arashi (although she enjoys watching the antics of other Johnny’s boys). Currently, she is trying to decide whom to marry: Sho-kun or Yamapi. *sigh*

JENNIE [ main host, audio editor, web maintainer ] is the oldest of all the hosts at 27 and lives with her husband in a small town in Germany. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and hopes to move to Japan in 2010. She spent the first few years of her marriage teasing her husband about his anime and Japan addiction only to be sucked in herself during a week of forced bed rest with nothing else to do. Now, there is not a day that goes by where her husband does not regret pulling her into Japanese culture as her fixation on Johnny’s has become a staple in their household. While she is an unabashed NEWS fan, there isn’t a group in Johnny’s that she doesn’t enjoy and, as such, she spends way too much time trying to keep current in fandom. If she’s not working on something to do with JEP Cast, whether it be anything from editing audio to coming up with new segment ideas to shamelessly bossing Kami around, you can find her traveling around Europe or off taking photos of anything and everything, trying to perfect her photography skills. She likes to tell herself that one day, she will be a grownup and stop her fangirling ways but she knows this isn’t true.
